Notifications
Email notifications are an integral part of telepark.wiki. You can turn them off completely or be notified about different actions at different times.
Email sender
Make sure that the notification emails actually reach the recipient by making sure the sender is not on his spam list. All notification emails sent by telepark.wiki are sent with From: as entered in the main settings tab field of the same name.
Comment notifications
If the checkbox about comment notifications is set, users will be notified whenever a new comment was entered and saved.
Page notifications
If the checkbox about page notifications is set, users will be notified whenever a new page has been added or a page was edited and saved. There is a second option in the main settings to allow the sending of notifications even if the user who edited the page did not enter a change description (which makes the notification information less informative).
How does it work and who gets what?
On every opening of telepark.wiki, whenever someone opens your Wiki website, email notifications are sent out once a day as follows:
- for public pages to everyone that subscribed via the notification sign-up field
- for permission-restricted pages to everyone that can view that particular page (via usergroup association)
Notifications are generally sent once a day if the "send immediately" option is not set. If the latter is set, then telepark.wiki sends out a notification on the next opening of the Wiki website by any user.
Comment notifications are handled in a similar way but if the "send immediately" option is set, then comments are sent right away, without the need to wait for a telepark.wiki reload. This procedure facilitates near-realtime discussions and exchanges with very quick notification - comment - notification loops.
Technical note
Having telepark.wiki check if it should send out notifications when someone opens the Wiki website avoids the need to define and run a CRON job.
